But God’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything right – everything. Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones.
I read this verse and start my normal process. Read, summarize, apply and pray. “He’s waiting around to be gracious to you.” When I read this I think about patience, compassion, mercy. If God is doing this for us, shouldn’t we do this for others? I was in a situation this week where I saw a co-worker struggling. She was having a difficult night. I will say she handled it well. None of us are perfect or think the same way. Not everyone practiced patience with her that night or even compassion for her difficult night. It weighed heavy on my heart.
“Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones.” God will not abandon you. Have patience, turn to him, he will give you blessings when you turn to him and put your trust in him.
We need to show the same compassion to people in our lives. If someone is struggling, we should give our assistance gladly. And we should not tear down that person because they didn’t have all the answers.
Thank you, Lord, for showing us mercy, compassion and being gracious to us!
